Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi at Saint Theophilus Parish in Kimbanseke, in the Kinshasa East pastoral region. Accompanied by Archbishop Édouard Tsimba, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa delivered a powerful message, blending pastoral comfort with sharp social criticism.
This visit took place in a somber atmosphere, marked by the recent trauma of two violent armed attacks directly targeting priests of the parish. Faced with the chronic insecurity and isolation of this neighborhood in the capital, the high-ranking prelate commended the work of the police while urging the authorities not to give up. To curb youth crime, the Cardinal called for addressing the root causes of poverty and strongly denounced the shortcomings of the Congolese judicial system.
To ensure the safety of the community and support the traumatized priests, Cardinal Ambongo took immediate precautionary action. He announced the appointment of Father Blaise Koyagba as parish administrator to manage the transition and guarantee the continuity of the sacraments. The day concluded with a lengthy, direct, and synodal exchange between the pastor and his parishioners.
A fitting adage : Justice that spares the powerful condemns the innocent.
