The Archdiocese of Kisangani vibrated to the rhythm of the ordination of Monsignor Léonard NDJADI NDATE. Cardinal Ambongo (principal consecrator), accompanied by several bishops of the CENCO participated in this Eucharist this Sunday, August 13, 2023, while the Church of the DRC celebrates the Assumption of Mary. Monsignor Léonard NDJADI NDATE was appointed by Pope Francis on May 13, 2023 as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Kisangani, headed by Monsignor Marcel UTEMBI Tapa. He was in charge, from 2020 until his appointment, of Provincial Superior of the Comboni Missionaries (MCCJ) for the DRC. A son of the Church of Kisangani, Monsignor Léonard was born in Yanonge on January 2, 1976. He joined the congregation from a young age, taking his perpetual vows on October 10, 2005, and being ordained a priest on August 13, 2006 in Kisangani.
Having a remarkable love for his Church, Monsignor Léonard exercised with great dedication several offices, notably: parish vicar of Our Lady of Fatima in Bangui; provincial councilor of the Comboni province of Central Africa, Vice-provincial of the same province, parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima in Bangui, after a Licentiate in spiritual theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University with specialization in vocational training, he is Master of Novices in Cotonou (Benin) and Member of the council of the Comboni province of Togo, Ghana and Benin, then Comboni Provincial Superior for the DRC.
During his youth and before becoming a priest, he completed his primary studies in Kisangani, secondary studies at MAELE College, preparatory studies in Kisangani, philosophy studies at the Edith Stein Institute in Kisangani, novitiate in Kimwenza and theology studies at the Saint Eugène de Mazenod Institute in Kinshasa.
