Since his release from the hospital, the Holy Father has gradually resumed his activities, albeit at a convalescent pace. His homilies at major celebrations are read by cardinals, he sometimes makes impromptu public appearances, and he receives some visitors. Here are excerpts from his few messages.

The College's cardinals come from 7 continents, spread across 94 countries. 71 countries have cardinal electors.

Until the end of October 2024, there are 234 cardinals, including 121 electors and 113 non-voters. From December 8, the number of electors will be expanded to 140. Because among the new ones to be created, one will be non-voting (Mgr. Angelo Acerbi - 99 years old -, emeritus apostolic nuncio in the Netherlands, who has proven his loyalty to the service of the sovereign pontiffs since Pope Pius XII, priest since 1948 on behalf of the diocese of Pontremoli in Italy) and one has withdrawn from the list (Mgr. Paskalis Bruno Syukur, 62 years old, currently secretary general of the Indonesian Episcopal Conference and bishop of Bogor in Indonesia, is withdrawing, in his words, "by his desire to grow further in priestly life, in the service of the Church and the people of God."

Upon his first outing on May 8, 2025, the new Pope Leo XIV wished peace to the entire world with the blessing urbi et orbi.
