In his Bull of Indiction Spes non confundit of May 9, 2024 for the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, after having noted the spiritual and pastoral aspects of Hope, the Pope had announced the opening of the Holy Door for the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025. A special program was established to allow the Catholic faithful of the world to benefit from this jubilee throughout the world. This Bull, while delivering the liturgical, and especially spiritual, activities to be carried out there, entrusted the task to all diocesan bishops to bring this moment of the Jubilee to life 5 days after the Opening of the Holy Door.

Following the tradition of the Church that dates back to 1300 with the pontificate of Boniface VIII, Pope Francis noted in his bull of indiction - "Spes non confundit" - that "The time has come for a new Jubilee in which the Holy Door will once again be thrown wide open to offer the living experience of God's love that awakens in the heart the certain hope of salvation in Christ."
