A Church in Motion

One year after his episcopal ordination, His Excellency Bishop Joseph Mopepe Ngongo presents a first, significant pastoral assessment for the Diocese of Molegbe. Faithful to his motto Ut unum sint ("That all may be one"), the prelate has instilled a dynamic of communion, synodality, and shared responsibility within his community. This initial period highlights major spiritual advancements and a concrete social commitment to the development of the region.

A pastoral presence on the ground and historic sacraments

Bishop Mopepe Ngongo's actions were initially deployed within the ecclesiastical sphere through an exemplary closeness to his faithful:

  • Total proximity : Pastoral visit completed in all 25 parishes of the diocese.
  • Direct exchanges : Meetings with priests, parish councils and pastoral agents.
  • Sacramental fervor : Administration of confirmation to more than 5,000 Christians.
  • Renewal of the clergy : Ordination of 12 new priests and 8 deacons.
  • Alliance celebrated : Celebration of a symbolic religious marriage.

In terms of governance, the bishop has restructured the Diocesan Council for Economic Affairs. This reform aims to streamline the financial system, enhance the value of local resources, and audit the diocese's land and real estate assets.

Education and protection: strong societal reforms

The education sector underwent a rigorous internal evaluation with the coordinators of the Catholic-affiliated schools to improve the quality of teaching.

Furthermore, Bishop Mopepe Ngongo demonstrated a strong ethical commitment by creating the Diocesan Office for Reporting Cases of Sexual Abuse of Minors , strengthening the protection of vulnerable people within the Church.
