Saint Remi probably lived between 437 and 533. He was elected bishop at the age of 22. In the diocese of Reims, a strategic diocese at a time when Gaul was still marked by political and religious instability. Remi died in 533 in Reims after having led his diocese for almost 70 years, an exceptional longevity. He is buried in the basilica that he had built in honor of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul, which later became the Basilica of Saint Remi in Reims.

Born as Paolo Francesco Danei in Italy, he dedicated his life to meditating on the Passion of Christ and preaching divine love through that suffering.
