![]() | The Pope visits the elderly at the end of his vacation It was around 10:30 a.m. this Monday that Pope Leo XIV headed to the "Santa Martha" retirement home in Castel Gandolfo, his summer residence until Tuesday. The Bishop of Rome was welcomed by the community of nuns and, accompanied by the superior, stopped to pray in the chapel, the Holy See Press Office reported on the Telegram network. Upon leaving, Pope Leo greeted individually about twenty women aged between 80 and 101, and spoke with them and the nuns. After greeting a young nurse and praying with some songs, the Pope said a few words, highlighting some of the themes of the songs and repeating a portion of the Gospel read during Sunday's Mass. |

Leo XIV praises the "kindness and zeal" of the late Cardinal André Vingt-Trois In a telegram of condolence addressed on July 22 to the Archbishop of Paris, Mgr Laurent Ulrich, Pope Leo XIV expressed his spiritual closeness and communion of prayer, after the death of Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, called to God on July 18 in Paris / "I pray that after having spent himself in the pastoral ministry and having in his last days communed with the cross of Christ in his flesh, the risen Lord will now welcome him into his house of rest, peace and light ," assures Leo XIV, imploring for him " the reward that the divine master has promised to faithful stewards " and granting " with all his heart " his apostolic blessing. | Comments |
