The Congolese cultural center Le Zoo (CZoo) is reborn from its ashes. Under the impetus of Minister Yolande Elebe and Director General Paul Ngoie , this important Kinshasa cultural venue vibrated throughout May 2026 through the revitalization program "Echoes of the body and soul".

Dance and Jazz: The Awakening of a Cultural Giant

The celebrations of International Dance and Jazz Days marked the starting point of this renaissance. The Utawala Creative Hub collective first set the stage ablaze by fusing breakdancing, amapiano and traditional Congolese dances.

A few days later, guitarists Joe Phrasé and Rodriguez Vangama took over. Their captivating sounds breathed new life into this space that had remained silent for too long, prompting local residents to call for more of these events.

The 7th art takes up residence at the CZoo

The month ended on a high note with the 10th edition of the European Film Festival. The CZoo's main auditorium was packed for screenings of major works such as "Here or There" and "A Bear in the Jura." Each screening became a convivial space for discussion, blending passionate debates with closing concerts. The CZoo is once again shining brightly at the heart of Congolese filmmaking.

A fitting adage : A people who revive their arts secure the future of their culture.
