On Sunday, January 25, 2026, the parish of Namianda resonated with the rhythm of vocation ministry. Under the guidance of His Excellency Bishop Sébastien-Joseph Muyengo, young people in formation and those with vocations from the area gathered for a moment of spiritual renewal.

Just 48 hours after returning to the province, the Governor of South Kivu, Jean-Jacques Purusi Sadiki, made a symbolic and significant visit to the Bishopric of Uvira. This visit, marked by solidarity and cohesion, comes amid a still fragile security situation.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2026, the head of the single division of Uvira, Jeanne d'Arc Chakupewa, led a delegation of neighborhood chiefs to the Bishopric to assess the situation after the passage of the M23/AFC.

En convalescence hors du diocèse, Mgr Sébastien-Joseph MUYENGO, évêque du diocèse d’Uvira, suit avec une profonde peine la dégradation de la situation sécuritaire dans la ville d’Uvira et ses environs. Lundi 08 septembre 2025, il a tenu à interpeller tous ceux qui ont la responsabilité de veiller sur la population civile en particulier.
