South Kivu – In an atmosphere filled with fervor and hope, life is gradually returning to normal in Uvira. This Sunday, Saint Paul's Cathedral resonated with the closing of the "Week of Christian Unity," marked by a large-scale ecumenical celebration presided over by Bishop Sébastien-Joseph Muyengo , Bishop of the Diocese of Uvira .
A powerful sign of this renewed fraternity, several pastors and delegates from various Christian denominations in the city participated in this solemn mass. United in their diversity, the congregation offered prayers for the restoration of lasting peace in a region too long ravaged by instability.
During his homily, the local Ordinary made a passionate plea on behalf of vulnerable populations. Bishop Muyengo urged Congolese authorities to intensify their efforts to facilitate the repatriation of refugees living in "disastrous" conditions in neighboring Burundi. For the prelate, the region's reconstruction cannot be complete without the return of its sons and daughters seeking dignity.
