Severinus was born in Egypt, probably in Alexandria, into a devout Christian family. From a young age, he learned the Scriptures and devoted himself to prayer. He became a priest in Alexandria, a major intellectual and spiritual center of early Christianity.

Saint Eusebius of Vercelli (in Latin Eusebius Vercellensis) was a 4th-century bishop, an ardent defender of the Catholic faith against Arianism, and one of the great confessors of the faith of his time (March 2, 283-August 1, 371).

Born around 315 near Jerusalem, Cyril of Alexandria was a defender of the Nicene Creed against Arianism; author of the Mystagogical Catecheses, participant in the Council of Constantinople (381), recognized as a Doctor of the Church in 1883; he died in 386.
