During the mass, Monsignor Sébastien-Joseph Muyengo insisted on the spirit of Monsignor Munzihirwa, the spirit of resistance against corruption and anti-values which are carving out space in our society in a leadership crisis.

Jeremiah was the laughing stock of an entire people who had closed themselves off by refusing the Word of the prophet. He took comfort in an irresistible force that pushed him not to give in to the mockery of false enlightened people while their whole being was sinking into the deepest darkness. For those truly enlightened by the Spirit, opposition to the threats of humans contains more energy than the refusal of the will of the one who sends them. Isaiah puts divine authority in its place in a society where authorities prefer to form coalitions with foreigners. Instead of the Jews focusing on justice for the good of all, they spend their time in false securities (coalition and fortification of Jerusalem). It is the human method that often forgets the One who grants power and salvation. How many of us cry out that all authority comes from God (Rom 13:1) without walking on the path of this God who grants it?
